Job Description

The Chandler Gilbert Community College Libraries are known for our robust, in-depth Critical Research Instruction (information literacy) program. This Library Faculty position will design interactive Critical Research Instruction for multiple modalities, including in-person, hybrid, and online, that are tailored to specific assignments and student needs. Classes are scheduled to maximize student learning using a deliberately timed approach that teaches students the skills, strategies, and sources they need for specific academic projects. Critical Research classes are aligned to the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Framework. This position, in addition to teaching in the Critical Research Instruction program, may also teach as an embedded library faculty in special partnerships across disciplines, partner with other discipline faculty to create Learning Communities, or teach credit-bearing Information Sciences courses as a part of an Associates of Arts degree in Information Science and eSociety. All Library Faculty, in addition to teaching, perform other duties of an academic librarian including reference services and collection development in a multicultural and collaborative community work environment. In this position, this faculty must strive for a commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, integrity. In performance of their job duties, library faculty provide a robust, unbiased academic experience for all students, faculty, and staff in the performance of job duties.

Position Duties

  • Designs and teaches in the library instructional programs in person and online
  • Works collaboratively with faculty across the college to design Critical Research Instruction
  • Provides reference instruction to students, faculty, and staff including assessment and evaluation results to improve teaching and student learning outcomes
  • Contributes to development of the library collection (print, media, and electronic) to meet research needs based on current curriculum at the college
  • Actively participates in and contributes to committee work for the division, college, and district

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree or higher from a college or university program accredited by the American Library Association (ALA) is required.
  • The following disciplines meet the requirements to teach in this field: Library and Information Studies, Information Studies, Library and Information Science, Library Science, Information Resources and Library Science, Information Science, AND is from a college or university program accredited by the American Library Association (ALA).

Hours & Compensation

  • Full-time
  • 9 Months
  • $51,774 – $99,672/annually DOE
