Archival Processing Internship, Floyd County Library, New Albany, IN

Part-time (10- 20 hours per week, approx. 3 months)
$13-$15/hr
Under guidance of Special Collections staff, assist in processing and cataloging archival collections.
Responsibilities:
- Survey, arrange, and describe historical records, photographs, and archival collections
- Perform basic research needed to create collection descriptions
- Identify conservation needs and perform basic preservation tasks
- Digitize select materials
- Assist with patron requests as needed
Experience and Qualifications:
- Graduate student or recent graduate of a Master’s degree program in library and information science, public history, or a related field
- Interest in local history and cultural heritage management
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Docs Editors suite, and Adobe Acrobat
- Detail-oriented, ability to work independently and in a team, and willingness to learn
- Coursework in archival practice and metadata standards (preferred)
- Familiarity with library systems and content management systems (preferred)
