The University of Southern Maine is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Library Specialist CL3 in Library Research & Instruction Services (75% time) & Learning Support Services (25% time). Regular hours are Wednesday – Saturday, 9:30am – 6:00pm, Sunday 10:30am – 7:00pm. This position will be based on the Portland Campus.
Library (75% time) – The Library Specialist provides a variety of services and support at the 2nd floor Glickman Library research help desk, including research assistance, navigating both online databases and print collections, and answering basic technology/computer questions. Excellent customer service is required. The person in this position is the sole person supporting the research service desk for a portion of their hours.
Learning Support (25% time) – The Specialist provides student employment support for 100-150 students. This includes assistance with student employment documentation and onboarding as well as approval of work hours submitted by students weekly. This position purchases supplies and materials for student training, manages subscriptions to virtual tools and resources, and provides ongoing editing of Learning Support’s internal and external student services website

Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D)
- One year of library, public service, or administrative support experience
- Relevant experience working with library resources
- Experience with common computer applications and softwares
- Ability to prioritize tasks and be flexible between several diverse components of the job
