Development and Grant Writing Intern, Aurora House Foundation, (Remote)
Posted August 24, 2026
Description
Aurora House Foundation, Inc. is a Massachusetts 501(c)(3) nonprofit providing affordable, temporary housing for families traveling to Boston Children’s Hospital for pediatric medical care. The organization is in an active growth phase, building out infrastructure, funding, and partnerships ahead of opening its first house. This internship will play a direct role in that fundraising foundation.
Aurora House is seeking a motivated individual intern to support the organization’s development efforts, with a primary focus on grant writing alongside broader marketing and fundraising support. This is a hands-on role for a student interested in nonprofit management, development, or philanthropy who wants real experience building a grant program from the ground up at an early-stage nonprofit.

Grant Writing (primary focus)
- Research and maintain a pipeline of foundation, corporate, and government grant opportunities aligned with Aurora House’s mission.
- Draft letters of inquiry, full grant proposals, and required attachments (budgets, program narratives, organizational documents).
- Track application deadlines, submission requirements, and reporting obligations for each funder.
- Support post-award grant reporting and compliance documentation.
- Help build and maintain a grants calendar and boilerplate language library for future reuse.
Marketing & Development Support
- Assist with donor communications, including acknowledgment letters and stewardship touchpoints
- Support content for the website, social media, and donor-facing materials as needed
- Help prepare materials for fundraising events, including the annual gala
- Assist with donor database entry and basic reporting
