The Salmon Brook Historical Society invites all qualified individuals to apply to its part time volunteer Archival Internship in order to aid the society in preserving and promoting its history. All qualified applicants will be considered for volunteering without regard to race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Must have the ability to work in a variety of environments, be a strong communicator both oral and in writing and have a prior history working in a museum or library setting. Priority given to current or prior Granby residents.

Qualifications:

Pursuing or have achieved a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree art history, curation,
or archives management. Experience with art handling desirable; demonstrated computer skills;
organizational abilities; must have valid driver’s license, physical dexterity and visual acuity.
Experience with Google Workspace and PastPerfect preferred.


Example of Duties:


● Work with the Archivist and Assistant Archivist to accession and deaccession artifacts using PastPerfect.
● Works with the Archivist and Assistant Archivist to inventory and accession multimedia files for transcription and publication.
● Participate in preservation and related activities to ensure access to Granby’s historical materials.
● Participate as a docent for the Aaron Draper Shattuck Tour Sunday September 27th.

Hours and Compensation:

Weekly Hours: Temporary position September 22nd- December 10th, (Tuesday, Thursdays and
some Sundays 2-4pm).
