Position Description:
Are you interested in history, archives, museums, libraries, research, genealogy, digital humanities, or public history?
The Sandra Bornstein Holocaust Education Center is seeking a Summer/Fall 2026 Archival and Library Intern to help preserve and share Rhode Island’s Holocaust history. This internship offers hands-on experience working with historical collections, survivor stories, archival materials, artifacts, and educational resources. The intern will work directly with the Director of Education and Programs and receive mentorship in archival research, collections management, digitization, exhibit development, and grant writing.
Position Duties:
- Archives and Library Projects
- Organize and catalog books, educational materials, and archival collections.
- Help improve access to the Center’s library and research materials.
- Research Survivor Histories
- Research Rhode Island Holocaust survivors and refugee families.
- Help collect biographies, photographs, and historical information for the Center’s website.
- Conduct historical and genealogical research using archival sources.
- Digitization and Preservation
- Assist with digitizing photographs, documents, oral histories, and artifacts.
- Help preserve and organize digital collections.
- Exhibits and Public History
- Help develop educational content for public audiences.
- Support efforts to make collections more accessible to students, educators, and researchers.
- Grant Research and Writing
- Research funding opportunities for exhibits, preservation projects, and educational initiatives.
- Assist with drafting grant proposals and supporting materials.
- Learn how nonprofit organizations secure funding for public history projects.

Hours & Compensation:
Schedule: Flexible, 10–20 hours per week
Location: Hybrid, with most work taking place onsite in Providence, Rhode Island
Term: Summer and/or Fall 2026
Compensation: Unpaid; academic credit may be available. A stipend may be available
depending on funding
