Description
The Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) seeks a MLIS student for a hands-on archival internship focused on the assessment, organization and description of historical photographs, documents, and digital assets.
The internship involves a minimum of 130 hours of field experience. As a 3-credit course, it provides significant hands-on learning through project work and collaboration with staff across the organization.
Responsibilities
As part of the Advanced Field Experience (LIS 512), the intern will assist with
processing NEDCCs institutional archives, creating inventories and finding aids, supporting digital asset organization, and identifying materials for future digitization. In addition to the hands-on practice, the internship offers professional development opportunities include observing and interacting with NEDCC’s conservators, collections photographers, audio preservation engineers, and preservation specialists.
Qualifications
- Current Simmons SLIS MLIS student
- Completion of at least 18 credit hours, including all core requirements
- Fall 2026 semester (September–December)
- 14 weeks, approximately 9 hours per week (130 total hours)
- On-site in Andover, MA
- Availability Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m.
