The Research & Knowledge Services (RKS) Intern will work closely with the Marketing & Business Development team’s information professionals to support legal, business, and competitive research initiatives across the firm. Reporting to an RKS Senior Manager, the intern will receive hands-on training in legal research platforms, research methodologies, and the team’s framework for organizing and synthesizing findings. A primary focus of this role will be proactive research to identify, review, and catalog publicly available expert witness materials, including reports, testimony, and related court filings, for long-term research initiatives and business development use. The intern may also assist with ad hoc projects supporting business development and strategic initiatives.
This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to how research supports litigation consulting, expert witness strategy, and business development efforts. The intern will have the opportunity to participate in bi-weekly RKS team meetings and collaborate with team members on research assignments.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct research to identify publicly available expert witness materials, including reports, testimony, and court filings, using legal research databases such as Lexis, Westlaw, and Bloomberg Law.
- Capture, organize, and summarize research findings in accordance with team standards.
- Assist with the population, maintenance, and quality control of internal research and knowledge databases.
- Assist team members with ad hoc legal, corporate, and business research projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Pursuing a degree, or demonstrating a strong interest, in library science, information science, legal studies, or legal research.
- Strong research, analytical, organizational, and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, prioritize effectively, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needs.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving ability.
- Interest in learning legal and business research methodologies and taking ownership of assigned work.
- Familiarity with database searching, including advanced search techniques, metadata, and structured research workflows.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, CRM systems, experience management platforms, and AI tools is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal skills, intellectual curiosity, and an inclusive, collaborative mindset.

This role is compensated at an hourly rate of $23.
Time commitment: 15 – 20 hours/week (4-6 month commitment) Hours available Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
Hourly rate: $23.00/hour
