Description
The SLIS Doctoral Studies Program is seeking a personable, organized SLIS Master’s student to work as the doctoral program assistant. The position is ideal for candidates with strong interpersonal and administration skills and a strong sense of responsibility. This flexible, primarily online position requires 8 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters and 5 hours per week during the summer. It pays $19 an hour. Almost all work will be done online; however, the assistant is expected to attend the in-person After Hooding reception in May.
Preferences will be given to students who are early in the SLIS Master’s program (Spring, Summer, or Fall 2026 entry cohorts).
This is a wonderful opportunity to work at SLIS, get to know SLIS faculty and students, as well as the doctoral program. The position will be available starting in Summer 2026.
Responsibilities
You will work with the Director of the SLIS Doctoral Program and the Committee on Doctoral Studies to:
- Provide operational support for doctoral students and the Committee on Doctoral Studies, including taking committee meeting minutes, scheduling meetings, collecting, organizing, and formatting documents, and supporting activities and events.
- Monitor the Ph.D. email account and respond to or forward messages as necessary.
- Provide support for ad hoc projects related to the doctoral program.
- Assist with the in-person SLIS After Hooding reception in May.
