SLIS Graduate Admission Intern, Simmons University, (Boston, MA)

Graduate Admission Interns are current Simmons graduate students who work in-person in the Graduate Admission Office in a part-time capacity. This position is only available to current SLIS Graduate Students. They support admission efforts across the portfolio of graduate programs with their strong communication skills, commitment to customer service, and love for Simmons. Their main goal is to represent Simmons through their knowledge of the graduate offerings and university resources. Strong candidates will have stellar organizational skills, and be self-starters who possess a can-do attitude and innate desire to continually bring improvement to the prospective student experience. Previous admissions experience (i.e. serving as a campus tour guide or undergraduate student ambassador) is valued but not required. Interns will be trained to support prospective students in a variety of ways, and will play a central role in establishing a positive overall student visitor experience via some or all of the following responsibilities:

  • Greet and serve as a knowledgeable resource for prospective students who visit campus, call the Graduate Admission Office, or initiate a chat on the student ambassador platform with an eye to always enhancing our current approach as we strive to deliver the best overall experience to those considering Simmons for graduate school
  • Support the Grad Admission team by helping to both improve and increase campus visits, elevating the experience while also finding ways to bring efficiency to processes
  • Deliver personalized, engaging campus tours to walk-ins and prospective students when a program-specific student ambassador is unavailable
  • Participate in and help to evolve admission webinars and info sessions, especially in person events
  • Support visitor scheduling and event planning
  • Create new student records in CRM to ensure prospective students receive automated communications
  • Write personalized postcards to admitted students
  • Participate in outreach- i.e. call campaigns to prospective students help increase attendance to admission events
  • Conduct research to support the Graduate Admission team
  • With guidance, analyze data/results of initiatives and summarize/report back findings to Graduate Admission team members
  • Help design and provide training for other student workers/ interns
  • Edit and/or produce marketing content – i.e. create blogs, flyers, emails, social media content, and/or review/edit singular emails and campaigns
  • Participate in meeting with members of the Graduate Admission team to foster professional growth
  • Provide feedback/ ideas regarding how to continually improve the overall prospective student experience

Shifts: Shifts typically range 3-4 hours, and students can do a single shift or multiple shifts each week. (provide your availability in your application)

Pay: $20/hr
