The Lesbian Herstory Archives has 4 Metadata Intern positions available for Archives, Library Science, Museum Studies and Information Science Students for Summer 2026 and Fall 2026. 2 for the Summer and 2 for the Fall.

Interns will be asked to split their time on and off site, working a minimum of 10 hours each week. Interns will be asked to mask when working in close proximity to others. Projects will be assigned according to intern skill sets and LHA’s project needs.

Metadata, Rehousing, Digital Migration
Music (Legacy Formats), Video and Audio Collections

Responsibilities

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Completion of first semester courses
  • Interest in best practices in archival processing, metadata development, digital libraries and access services
  • Demonstrated interest in lesbian history and activism
  • Comfort working with archival materials of a sexual nature.
  • Ability to work remotely, independently and maintain regular communication via gchat, email and attend weekly virtual meetings.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 , Excel, Google Suite or Zoho; Airtable, Omeka, Archipelago (Training will be provided)

Hours and Compensation

This is an unpaid internship.

Interns will be asked to split their time on and off site, working a minimum of 10 hours each week.
