Job Description:
The Winsor School is an independent day school for academically promising and motivated girls in grades five through twelve. The School seeks a part-time pre-professional librarian, i.e., someone who plans to earn their Master’s in Library Science. The successful candidate will demonstrate patience, flexibility, and dependability, as well as have strong multi-tasking and self-starter skills. The candidate should be comfortable working in a bustling library environment. Experience working with 5th-12th graders, experience in libraries, or interest in librarianship as a career is highly desirable.
Position Duties:
- Operating the circulation desk
- Supervising students in the library and enforcing library policies, as well as providing library coverage when the librarians are not on site
- Creating visually appealing library bulletin boards and book displays
- Managing the library’s social media
- Processing new books and repairing book damages
- Collection maintenance, including weeding out-of-date library materials, inventory, and shelving books
- Performing other library-related duties as assigned by the director
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Demonstrated commitment to community and inclusion work
- Demonstrated interest in pursuing a Master’s in Library Science
- Computer skills, including proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office
Skills:
- A genuine commitment to building relationships with students and colleagues
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- The ability to work independently
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- The ability to work collaboratively
- A good sense of humor
Physical Requirements:
- Requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, and reaching, as well as carrying and occasionally lifting up to 30 lbs.
Hours and Compensation:
Salary range: $22-$27 per hour
This is a 10-month position for 19 hours per week. It will begin in late August 2026.
