Description
Library Director, part-time professional position with the Freedom Public Library in Freedom, New Hampshire.
The Freedom Public Library Board of Trustees is seeking an outgoing leader who loves people and learning to lead a dedicated staff and volunteer group. The Library Director plays a vital role in our close and supportive community, plans and oversees all aspects of Library operations, and reports to the Board of Trustees.
Responsibilities
- Manages the day-to-day operations of the library.
- Works with trustees, library staff, the Friends of the Library, and patrons to achieve the library’s goals and implement library policies.
- Advocates, plans, promotes, develops, and markets library services and programs to all members of the community.
- Plans and implements vibrant programming for children and youth, including weekly story hours.
- Engages with Freedom Elementary School to foster learning and to promote literacy.
- Builds, maintains, and continuously improves the library collection of all types of media.
- Provides to the Board monthly reports on library activities and usage.
- Attends Board of Trustees and Friends of the Library meetings.
- Assists in preparing an annual budget in collaboration with the BoardTreasurer for Trustees’ approval.
- Trains, supervises, and evaluates library staff.
- Ensures the library’s technology keeps pace with technology trends.
- Monitors the physical condition of the library and reports observations to the trustees.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
A college degree is preferred, but not mandatory; relevant experience as well as necessary management and communication skills are equally important.
Applicants should:
- Be able to work effectively with Trustees, child, youth, and adult patrons, staff, and Friends of the Library.
- Be highly organized with good attention to detail.
- Be knowledgeable about computer and library-related software.
Hours and Compensation
Part-Time. Compensation is negotiable, based upon experience.
