Summary:
The Library of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority is seeking an Intern to assist the Library Supervisor in the following activities:
- creating a metadata object description schema (MODS) for historical photographs in preparation for digitization
- classifying, weeding, and digitizing an extensive research file collection
- assisting in the daily operation of a small, governmental Special Library.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and record metadata for historic photograph digitization project in MODS.
- Organize, classify and digitize print documents from a print research files collection.
- Learn daily library operations in a special library setting.
- Serve a wide variety of personnel in reference requests as needed.
- Provide additional support to Library Supervisor as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Enrollment in an ALA-accredited Library and Information Science Master’s degree program.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Well-developed organizational skills with a thorough attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Internship duration: May – December
Hours and Compensation:
- $23.00 per hour
- Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am – 4:00pm
- The position is a six-month paid internship at the MWRA’s Chelsea office. It is a full-time and in-person schedule, with flexibility.
