User Experience Summer Internships, Harvard Library, (Cambridge, MA)

This summer, Harvard Library will offer three paid internships to graduate students
interested in library user experience.

The purpose of the internship is to expose graduate students to innovative practices of
digital librarianship, including:
● user experience and accessibility,
● artificial intelligence technologies,
● digital collections stewardship,
● web design and content strategy

Interns chosen for the program will work as a team to undertake various projects under the
general direction of Meg McMahon, User Experience Researcher. The interns will be
assigned to various projects within the UX & Discovery department at Harvard Library,
working both independently and together.

Interns will contribute to digital collection migration, user research on artificial intelligence,
and refinement of digital library experiences. Interns will gain experience in project
management, user research, and iterative design in a library setting.
The start date for the internship will be determined as soon as the three interns have been
selected, but it may be as early as mid-May; the internship must be completed by August
31, 2026.

Each internship carries a generous stipend of $7,200. A total of 360 hours will be spent on
the internship. Students may be eligible for academic credit for the internship, depending
on their program of study. This is a remote internship and will be completed online. Interns
are expected to work 35 hours/week for the internship (usually 10 weeks).

How to Apply:

The application deadline is February 17, 2026. To apply, please submit a cover letter that
addresses your qualifications and interests in the internship, along with a current resume

Please note that Harvard Library cannot provide visa sponsorship for these internship
