Library Marketing/Web Associate Intern, Federal Highway Administration, (McLean, VA/Washington, D.C.)

Description

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Research Library, located in the Washington, D.C. area, is seeking students pursuing degrees in library/information science or similar fields for paid, full-time internships for the period June 1 – August 7, 2026. The internships are being offered as part of the United States Department of Transportation’s Summer Internship Program (DOTSI). The internships include a stipend, round-trip travel, and furnished housing. The deadline for submitting an application is January 31, 2026.

Responsibilities

  1. Modify the library’s internal site for enhanced usability and access to library resources.
  2. Rewrite the library brochure.
  3. Create print and digital marketing materials to help promote the library.
  4. Assist with other marketing, web, and outreach activities as needed.

Qualifications

Coursework and/or experience in creating marketing products and designing web pages, especially in Google Workspace; Familiarity with library processes and resources; Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills; Willingness to adapt to changing situations and take on new tasks; Ability to meet established deadlines with products that reflect professionalism.

Hours and Compensation

The internship is full-time between the dates of June 1-August 7, 2026. The internships include a stipend, round-trip travel, and furnished housing.
