Description
The Bedford Free Public Library seeks an experienced Head of Technical Services & Technology to join our management team in the new year.
This position oversees daily operations of the Technical Services department, including acquisitions and cataloging, along with the development and maintenance of the library’s IT infrastructure, including all staff and patron hardware and software.
As Department Head, you will structure and supervise the work of technical services staff; coordinate with librarians on public and staff IT training and needs; and work with Administration to develop services and programs.
As part of the library’s leadership team, you will lead initiatives and manage projects.

Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Library & Information Science
- Five to seven years progressively responsible library experience;
- Experience with technical programming and database maintenance experience;
- Experience working with the public as there will be regular shifts at the Reference Desk.
- Candidates should have strong oral and written communication skills and commitment to excellence in patron service.
- Must be exceptionally detail-oriented and highly organized.
Hours and Compensation
Schedule: 40 hours per week with a potential for a 4-day week at 37.5 hours. One evening per week and every fourth Saturday.
Salary: $85,195.02 – $110,757.96 / year, with comprehensive benefits package.
