Nobles seeks multifaceted educators who will contribute significantly to the life of the school in at least one non-academic area (e.g., athletics, community service, admission, or performing arts) outside of the responsibilities of this position.
 

Position Summary

The part-time library assistant will join a vibrant library department and support the library program through student supervision, cataloging, and other library projects. This three-month position offers an excellent opportunity to experience school library work and to learn about the aspects that make a school library run smoothly. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Staff the reference desk and assist patrons with circulation, reference, research, and readers’ advisory requests.
  • Assist with planning and staffing library programming for students and employees.
  • Assist with print collection management, including book processing, shelving, shifting, and weeding.
  • Assist with cataloging tasks and projects, including cataloging new additions to the collection, editing older catalog records, and managing interlibrary loan requests.
  • Design library book displays.
  • Perform library opening and closing tasks.
  • Monitor student behavior and enforce library rules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Library experience and/or enrollment in a library science master’s degree program is required 
  • Strong organizational skills and an effective ability to collaborate
  • Experience with and/or interest in working with students and adults in a school environment
  • Some knowledge of library systems and procedures, including cataloging, circulation, readers’ advisory, and reference work
  • Commitment to customer service, connection, and community
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and navigate stairs
  • Availability to open the library at 7:30 a.m. and close at 4:30 p.m., several days per week

Pay Range: $20–$25 hourly, based on experience
