Description
The Jones Library System seeks a creative and energetic Library Technician to work part-time at our North Amherst and Munson Memorial Library branches. This position works under the general supervision of the Head of Branch Services. We are looking for an individual who displays a genuine enjoyment of welcoming and working with people of all ages; who enjoys work that supports and strengthens the community; who has great communication skills and is committed to providing excellent customer service; and is excited about opportunities to provide educational and recreational services to library visitors.
Responsibilities
- Provides exceptional customer service and a welcoming atmosphere for everyone.
- Uses library computer system to check out and in library materials, and to register and update borrowers’ records; finds requested materials for patrons; answers questions on how to use the library and directs patrons to other staff members as appropriate.
- Explains library policies; answers telephone calls.
Qualifications
Requires High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Experience working in a customer service capacity with people of all ages; experience working with various types of computer software; interest in reading; ability to pay close attention to detail; ability to handle stressful situations. Must have flexibility to cover Saturday shifts.
Hours and Compensation
This is a part-time position (18.5 hours per week). The schedule for this position is Tuesday 1:30-5:30, Wednesday 1:45- 7:30, Thursday 1:30-5:30, and Saturday 8:30-1:15 at Munson Memorial Library. The hiring range is $15.76-$21.18 in 11 steps.
