Job Description:

The Rye Public Library Board of Trustees seeks applicants for the full-time position of Library Director.  We are searching for a dynamic Library Director who is very public service minded, innovative, experienced and possesses strong leadership skills. The Library Director plans, implements and manages all aspects of library services and programs in accordance with policies set forth by the Board of Trustees. The Director oversees a staff of 4 full-time and 9 part-time employees. 

Qualifications:

An ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library Science is preferred.  Applicant must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong financial skills, and five years of successful administrative and supervisory library experience.  The ability to develop effective working relations with Rye’s town and school officials, community board members and the general public is essential. The Rye Public Library is a busy community center for its 5,500 residents and its many summer visitors.

Hours and Compensation:

 The starting salary is $85,000 to $92,000 with competitive benefits, including participation in the NH Retirement System.
