Research Intern, Open Access & Scholarly Publishing, Bentley University (Remote)

Duration: Fall Semester (approximately Nov 1 – December 19, 2025)

The Bentley University library is currently reviewing all of its scholarly publications from 2008 to present to determine which ones are Open Access. In addition, research is being conducted into understanding the motivations, barriers, and complexities when Bentley faculty publish via an OA route. This is a great opportunity for interns interested in learning more about scholarly publication, open access, creative commons licensing, and open educational resources.

Reports To: Open Educational Resources Librarian

Key Responsibilities

·         Review and assess scholarly articles for Open Access (OA) status

·         Classify OA level (Gold, Green, etc.) and verify licensing

·         Organize and validate digital records for accuracy

·         Assist in designing qualitative and quantitative research on OA publishing practices

·         Collaborate with the Open Educational Resources Librarian on project development

Preferred Skills and Knowledge

·         General understanding of open licensing, i.e. Creative Commons

·         Comfortable navigating Office software, particularly Microsoft Excel

·         Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

·         Ability to perform repetitive tasks consistently

·         Interest in Open publication or Open education
