Assistant Librarian, Acquisitions, University of Central Florida Libraries (Orlando, FL)

Job Description:

The University of Central Florida (UCF) Libraries seeks a collaborative and forward-thinking Acquisitions Assistant Librarian to lead innovative strategies for acquiring physical and digital content. This is a 12-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment. This position offers the opportunity to strategically manage a $9M collections budget, advance research and affordable learning initiatives, and shape the future of academic collections. The successful candidate will work closely with library leadership, subject librarians, campus stakeholders, and consortia partners to deliver data-informed acquisitions strategies that support UCF’s teaching and research mission. 

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the selection and acquisition of physical and digital resources aligned with academic priorities.
  • Optimize purchasing models (firm orders, approval plans, PDA/EBA) to maximize access and return on investment.
  • Manage budget processes and analytics within the library services platform and campus finance system.
  • Supervise and mentor acquisitions team members, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.
  • Design and implement efficient workflows across enterprise and vendor solution systems.
  • Collaborate on data-driven collection strategies, including selection and deselection.
  • Deliver actionable insights through assessments that support planning, accreditation, and strategic initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in library and/or information science, or an advanced degree in a relevant field, from an accredited institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leveraging analytics tools within a library services platform to inform acquisitions decisions.
  • Experience with library budget management, allocations, and analyses.
  • Skilled in vendor relations, including negotiations and product improvements.
  • Experience managing acquisitions workflows within integrated library systems, especially Ex Libris’ Alma.

Hours and Compensation:

Assistant Librarian salary starts at $60,000. Full time.
