Job Description
To serve as a library teacher, digital literacy specialist and instructional partner in designing, implementing and assessing best instructional practices that promote student centered learning experiences that foster reading and digital literacy skills as part of instructional programs cross curricula.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and promote the library as a collaborative student-centered environment that advances creative problem-solving and interdisciplinary learning.
- Collaborate with faculty on teaching research and digital literacy skills in context.
- Consult with faculty, as a specialist, on digital literacy resources and effective learning strategies.
- Collaborate with Instructional Coaches and/or Instructional Technology Specialists to suggest and demonstrate strategies, resources and technologies that promote digital literacy skills.
- Serve as a digital literacy resource to students, faculty and administration.
- Promote an appreciation of literature and encourage life-long literacy habits.
- Create and maintain a current and curriculum relevant collection.
- Inform faculty on new materials the library acquires.
- Maintain an effective system for cataloging all library materials, and instruct faculty and students on use of the system.
- Maintain strong ties with the public library system and other district librarians.
- Perform other job-related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the building Principal and/or Director of Technology and Library Media.
