Librarian, Beaver Country Day School, (Chestnut Hill, MA)

Beaver Country Day School—an independent day school located just outside of Boston, serving grades 6-12—seeks a creative, innovative, and forward-thinking Librarian. This is a part time position for the 2025-2026 school year that will report to the Director of the Research and Design Center and serve on the Research + Design Team.

Responsibilities

  • Research Support: Work with students to support their research and academic needs, providing
  • guidance on library materials, research databases, and emerging technologies.
  • Instructional Leadership: Collaborate with faculty to provide support and expertise on edtech, AI, media literacy, and research. 
  • Collection Management: Manage subscriptions, curate, obtain, and maintain the Research+Design Center’s collection of books, digital resources, tools, and materials.
  • Other responsibilities may include: Strategic planning to help identify needs and priorities, as well as evaluate and vet new technologies.

Qualifications

  • Educational Degree: A Master’s degree in Library and Information Science (or international equivalent) from an ALA-accredited institution is strongly preferred.
  • Technological Expertise: A strong understanding of emerging technologies, including AI, and their practical, ethical application in teaching and learning.
  • An advocate for equitable information access, media literacy, and inquiry-based learning. You should have proven expertise in research instruction, instructional design, and seamlessly integrating educational technology into the curriculum. 
  • Resource Management: Deep knowledge of literature and information resources suitable for students in grades 6-12. This includes hands-on experience with research databases, online catalogs, and digital collections.
  • Ethical Leadership: A comprehensive understanding of copyright, fair use, and the ethical use of information.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional interpersonal, communication, organizational, and project management skills are essential for collaborating with students, faculty, and leadership.

Hours and Compensation

Schedule: 18 hours per week; 4 days a week; 4.5 hours per day

Pay Rate: $37.00 per hour
