Job Description
The Town of Boxford is accepting applications for a full-time Head of Circulation at the Boxford Town Library. This position is responsible for overseeing all circulation services and supervising circulation desk staff and volunteers. The ideal candidate will have a Masters in Library Science from an accredited graduate program with a professional certificate of librarianship issued by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, or ability to obtain certificate within 2 months of hire, and Minimum of three years progressively responsible library experience with two years supervisory experience.
Duties include managing circulation workflows, training staff on library systems, assisting patrons, maintaining library collections, and serving as liaison to the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium Circulation Committee. Familiarity with integrated library systems and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
This is a 35-hour/week position, typically Monday–Thursday 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., Friday 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., with one evening per week and a Saturday rotation. Attendance at occasional evening/weekend programs may be required.
This position is a union position within the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, AFLCIO, State Council 93, Local 939 (“union”). The current collective bargaining agreement between the Town of Boxford and the union can be found on the Town’s website. Per the collective bargaining agreement, this position is categorized as a “Grade 2” with an hourly pay rate of $31.52 in fiscal year 2026.
