Description
The Curriculum Librarian supports teaching, learning, and research in the College of Education and Social and Behavioral Sciences at Framingham State University. This librarian provides leadership in managing the Education and Curriculum Collection, partners with faculty to integrate information literacy into teacher preparation programs and facilitates access to instructional materials that reflect diverse educational standards and practices. The Education Librarian also coordinates outreach, programming, and engagement to ensure equitable access and inclusive support for students and faculty. The successful candidate will join a collaborative team dedicated to student success, inclusive pedagogy, and community engagement.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and maintenance of the Education and Curriculum Library collections, including print, digital, and media resources for PreK-12 instruction.
- Provide specialized reference services and information literacy instruction for students in education-related disciplines, both in-person and online.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate library resources and services into courses and curricula.
- Manage all aspects of the Curriculum Library, including acquisitions, cataloging oversight, budgeting, inventory, and weeding.
- Oversee department web content, LibGuides, and online learning resources related to education and teaching.
- Develop outreach initiatives to engage Education students and faculty, including orientations, programming, and events.
- Supervise and train full-time and part-time staff employees within the Curriculum Library.
- Participate in and support the University’s annual Swiacki Children’s Literature Festival.
- Stay current with trends in PreK-12 education, including state and national curriculum standards, instructional technologies, and equitable and inclusive teaching practices.
- Represent the library in campus-wide and regional initiatives, particularly those supporting teacher education and inclusive pedagogy.
Qualifications
- ALA-accredited master’s degree in library and information science.
- At least 2 years of professional academic library experience, including supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of PreK-12 education practices, curriculum standards, and educational materials.
- Experience with library instruction, reference services, and educational technology.
- Familiarity with children’s and young adult literature and multicultural resources for teaching.
- Ability to manage collection development, acquisitions, and cataloging workflows.
- Proficiency with library systems (ILS, discovery tools), Microsoft Office, and digital learning platforms.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in library services.
Hours and Compensation
This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt, benefits-eligible position in the Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA) bargaining unit at a faculty rank commensurate with experience and credentials. Salary commensurate with experience in accordance with Appendix O of the MSCA contract. The anticipated starting salary range is $60,000-70,000 at Assistant or Associate Librarian ranks.
