Job Description
The Harvard Library Innovation Lab (LIL) seeks a Product and Research Manager to help us build tools and communities for open knowledge. Located at the Harvard Law Library, LIL is a fun and collaborative lab with a broad mission focused on re-envisioning how knowledge is created, preserved, and accessed. LIL’s projects can range from large to small and can bring immediate benefit or prototype the future. Passion and creativity are required, as well as the ability to work collaboratively on long-term and short-term projects with a great team.

Position Duties
- Serve as product owner for a portfolio of research and development projects on multiple substantive topics.
- Work with the Product and Research Director, engineering team, and researchers in the lab to prioritize efforts across a range of projects.
- Participate in user outreach and community development for LIL projects, including social media, blog posts, promoting platforms to potential partners, and coordinating symposiums or workshops.
- Support and represent projects as an ambassador to LIL’s project partners.
- Provide tier-two product support in collaboration with the Support Coordinator’s frontline support.
- Report on user engagement and usage statistics to identify opportunities for enhancements to platform.
- Draft product briefs to capture objectives, establish success criteria, and identify risks.
- Run business analyses to define existing markets and quantify opportunity costs in addressing them.
Qualifications
- Minimum of two years’ post-secondary education or relevant work experience
- Passion for libraries and the future of information architecture and civic technology
- A desire to share work and explore ideas in public settings, including presentations, scholarly seminars at Harvard, and posting to the Lab’s blog
- Experience with the full life cycle of product development, from exploration to design to implementation to iteration

- Full-time
