Job Description
The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) offers six-month paid internships in 2026. The internship program is open to current students and recent graduates who are nationals of a NATO member state.
The NATO Library as part of the Archives and Information Management Section (Executive Management Division) will be hiring an intern in 2026 to work in our international team of librarians in Brussels. The Library serves NATO Headquarters, Delegations and Partners and provides credible and timely public information sources and services on international relations, defense, security, and current world affairs.
Position Duties
- Archives and Information Management (EM-ICTM-AIM) intern will be involved in Archives, Library and Information and Knowledge Management projects. These relate to the management of current, historical and published information.
- The interns working in the Library will be participating in the daily work of the Library including welcoming of visitors, managing the collection of digital subscriptions and physical holdings, conducting small researchers and assisting with outreach projects such as book talks and exhibitions.
- The interns working in the Archives will equally be involved in the daily operations of the NATO Archives which include assignments related to the preservation of paper and digital historical information, preparing collections for public disclosure, assisting with the preparations of the Archives Committees and outreach activities.
- The latter vary from supporting visitor tours to NATO’s Declassified Centre and preparing exhibits on important moments in NATO’s history.
- The interns in Personal Data Protection can expect to be involved in projects related to the implementation of NATO’s Personal Data Protection Policy; providing coaching and training to staff and liaising with other NATO entities.
Qualifications
- Be a national of a NATO member state
- Be at least 21 years old
- Have at least two years of university level studies OR equivalent education OR be currently a student OR a recent graduate (degree obtained no longer than 12 months ago)
- Have proficiency in one of the two official NATO languages (English/French)
Hours & Compensation
- Full time
- 1,286.09Euro (EUR) Monthly
