Part-Time Outreach Services Coordinator, Wayland Free Public Library, (Wayland, MA)

Description
Under the direction of the Library Director/Project Manager, the Outreach Services Coordinator will be responsible for administering the Library’s LSTA-grant-funded project to serve the needs of Wayland residents who are either permanently or temporarily at home and not able to get to the Library to borrow materials due to illness, mobility challenges, cognitive impairment or other health-related needs. The Outreach Services Coordinator works with a core group of Volunteer Delivery Drivers who help to deliver Library materials to individuals residing in their own home or apartment, or in one of the two assisted living facilities in the town of Wayland. Any resident of Wayland who is either permanently or temporarily confined to their home is eligible to receive home delivery services, regardless of age.
Responsibilities
- Assists outreach clients in locating materials and information in a variety of print and non-print formats
- Formulates goals, plans, and procedures for promoting home delivery services
- Selects books and materials for outreach clients
- Pulls holds and works with Home Delivery Volunteers to pick up and deliver materials to the Library’s outreach clients at their place of residence on a predetermined schedule
- Consults with the Library Director / Project Manager in expending the project grant funds according to the approved budget
- Makes presentations or speaks to community groups in order to raise awareness about the Library’s grant-funded Outreach and Home Delivery Services
- Maintains records/statistics and prepares reports as directed by the Library Director / Project Manager
- Publicizes Outreach and Home Delivery Services through programs and promotional materials
- Oversees and coordinates Home Delivery Volunteers
- Ability to get along with customers and co-workers
- Regular and punctual attendance
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or equivalent.
- Some knowledge of library operations and services.
- A friendly, helpful and welcoming attitude and an ability to interact with people of all ages and abilities.
- Interest in serving the Library and information needs of those with permanent or temporary disabilities, including those with mobility, visual or hearing impairments, cognitive issues or other health-related challenges.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License prior to employment
- Must pass a criminal background (CORI/SORI) check
- Must be able to reach above shoulder height and stoop below knee level
Hours and Compensation
Duration: June 1st – September 30th, 2025
Hours: 10-12 hours per week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, up to 200 hours total
Pay: $25 per hour, no benefits
