Job Summary:
Dartmouth Libraries is seeking a Research Data Librarian to join our growing Research Facilitation department. This position plays a pivotal role in supporting data-intensive research and teaching across Dartmouth, with a primary focus on economics and business support. We are looking for a collaborative, thoughtful professional who values inclusivity, diverse perspectives, and is passionate about advancing data-driven research and learning.
Position Responsibilities:
As the liaison to the economics department, the Research Data Librarian will provide expert research support, develop and lead curricular and co-curricular educational initiatives, and guide data-related collection strategies tailored to Dartmouth’s evolving needs. Additionally, the Research Data Librarian will collaborate with other data-intensive disciplines, programs, and centers across campus, including dedicating 25% of its time to supporting the Tuck School of Business. This role also involves developing, delivering, and assessing impactful research services and contributing to the broader implementation of research data support at Dartmouth.

Required Qualifications – Education:
- Masters plus 2-3 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications – Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- ALA-accredited masters degree in library and/or information science, or an advanced subject or professional degree; and 2 plus years of relevant postgraduate experience.
- Experience preparing data for analysis, visualization, and other procedures
- Knowledge of and proficiency with key information resources in economics, business, and/or finance.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work flexibly and effectively in groups.
- Strong organizational skills; ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and complete projects.
- Demonstrated skill and enthusiasm for outreach and engagement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Academic background in a data-intensive social sciences discipline.
- Familiarity with one or more data analysis or visualization tools (for example Stata, SPSS, R, Python).
- Knowledge of statistical concepts and approaches in social science disciplines.
- Experience and proficiency with effective teaching methods and practices
- 2+ years experience in data science work
Hours & Compensation:
- Hiring range: $68,200 – $85,300.
- This is a full time position.
- This is a hybrid work location eligible position.
