Job Summary:
Darien Library seeks a creative, mission-driven, and highly organized individual to serve as a Part-Time Digital Content Creator. Working under the supervision of the Head of User Experience & Marketing, the ideal candidate will support and execute the Library’s communications priorities by producing and managing content across digital and print platforms. The successful candidate has a passion for creating engaging digital content, a collaborative spirit, and a growth-mindset with a willingness to test, learn, and evolve content to meet strategic goals.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Head of Marketing and UX to implement the Library’s communications strategy.
- Write and edit content with appropriate tone, organizational style, grammar, and punctuation following the Darien Library Style Guide.
- Social Media Management
- Design and publish dynamic, engaging content tailored to each platform’s strengths and unique capabilities.
- Daily creation of engaging, timely, and valuable content for online audiences, informed by local and national trends in both librarianship and media.
- Track key performance metrics and audience engagement and adjust strategy as necessary.
- Maintain knowledge of social media platforms’ capabilities and differing audience preferences.
- Write press releases, e-newsletters, and other publicity materials.
- Collaborate on projects within the department and with other internal and external groups.
- Cultivate relationships with local media outlets.
- Coordinate with staff for contributions to Library newsletters and e-content.
- Produce original content for newsletters.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- At least five years prior experience working in marketing or editing.
- Strong aptitude in written communication that demonstrates a discerning eye for factual accuracy, grammatical accuracy, and brand alignment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to Darien Library’s motto of “Kindness First” when working with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to prioritize tasks as directed by the Head of UX and Marketing.
- Experience in project management systems.
- Proven ability to track and meet deadlines and adapt to changes in workflow within a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with graphic design and proficiency in design tools such as Canva and Adobe Suite are required.
- Proficiency with new and emerging technologies, as well as Microsoft Office, and Windows and Mac operating systems.
- Demonstrate an eye for design, including the sourcing and proper usage of digital content and images as necessary.
- Bilingual candidates, or those with functional knowledge of another language, are highly desirable.
Hours and Compensation:
This is a part-time position with no benefits. The candidate will work on-site at the Library Monday through Friday at least 20 hours per week, not to exceed 29 hours per week.
$30—$35 per hour, commensurate with experience.
