Digital Resource Library Content and Accessibility Reviewer, Down Syndrome Foundation (Remote/Hybrid)

Overview:
LuMind IDSC was founded by families who wanted to accelerate Down syndrome research and create opportunities for people with Down syndrome and their loved ones to connect and learn.
Today, our organization serves a vibrant community of people with Down syndrome, their caregivers, siblings, and supporters, as well as professionals in the field and researchers. LuMind IDSC’s community engagement activities are designed in large part to excite and educate the Down syndrome community about research and the importance of participation. LuMind IDSC’s signature community programs, myDSC and Family Weekend, bring together more than 5,000 participants in pursuit of reliable information and annual connections.

Job Summary:
LuMind IDSC is seeking a detail-oriented and accessibility-focused Digital Resource Library Curator and Accessibility Reviewer to support the curation and quality assurance of myDSC, a digital library of Down syndrome research and health resources. This role is a temporary, project-based, contract position focused on ensuring that the information on the myDSC platform is high-quality, accessible, and
accurate. This position reports to the Director of Community Programs, and may interact with other members of the Community Engagement team. You will be responsible for reviewing and assessing digital content for relevance, clarity, usability, and accessibility, and assigning topic areas, while helping uphold standards of health literacy and digital inclusion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review digital materials related to Down syndrome—such as academic publications, toolkits, fact sheets, blog posts, videos, and clinical resources—for relevance, accessibility, and alignment with community needs.
  • Categorize and tag digital materials with provided parameters to increase usability and cohesion of resources within given topic areas to improve discoverability and user experience.
  • Identify and flag outdated or inaccurate information and collaborate with LuMind IDSC staff to recommend updates or replacements.
  • Audit resources for compliance with digital accessibility standards

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience in content review and auditing or information management, preferably in healthcare, public health, or nonprofit settings.
  • Strong reading and written communication skills and a commitment to health equity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, or interest in, intellectual and developmental disabilities, especially Down syndrome.

Preferred:

  • Background in public health, library/information science, health communication, or accessibility studies.
  • Knowledge of health literacy principles and plain language best practices.
  • Familiarity with metadata standards and resource categorization in digital libraries.
  • Lived experience or experience collaborating with self-advocates, caregivers, or disability-serving organizations.

Working Situation:

  • Flexible work arrangement (remote) with self-determined hours
  • Mission-driven team focused on equity and inclusion in health and research
  • Must have permission to work in the U.S.
  • 1099 non-employee contract
  • Estimated 4-6 weeks for project completion

Compensation:

$3,000 Project-based compensation, with scheduled payments at completion of key milestones (approximately halfway through project) and completion of project.
