Archivist-Librarian, Noble and Greenough School (Dedham, MA)

Nobles seeks a full-time archivist-librarian to join the library department beginning in late August 2025.

The archivist-librarian will join a vibrant library department with the goal of preserving and providing access to the school’s archival collection, collecting materials that represent the school’s history, and breathing life into the archives’ collections for the school community. The archivist-librarian is also a key part of the library team and will split their time between the archives and library during the school year. This is a 12-month position.

The successful candidate will also:

  • Work independently as the school’s solo archivist, managing time, workload, collections,  and the archives budget effectively
  • Be a strong collaborator across school departments, especially with the Communications and Graduate Affairs offices
  • Be an involved community member and educator, connecting students, faculty, staff, graduates, and external researchers to the work of the archives
  • Develop a working knowledge of the school’s history and use archival materials to communicate that history through presentations, writing, content creation, physical displays, programming, classroom teaching, and other means
  • Demonstrate familiarity with archives content management software and digital asset management systems. The Nobles Archives currently uses ArchivEra and Preservica.
  • Work with the library team to support the library program, including but not limited to collection development, readers’ advisory, research instruction, community programming, and space supervision
  • Be able to lift 25 pounds and navigate stairs

Requirements:

A master’s degree in library science or the equivalent with a focus on archival management or commensurate experience is required. Candidates may be asked to contribute to the life of the school in multiple ways (e.g., advising, athletics, the arts, club advising).
