About the Nichols House Museum:
The Nichols House Museum on Boston’s historic Beacon Hill was home to an early 20th-century family of artists and social activists. Preserved as a museum by Rose Standish Nichols, a pioneering woman landscape architect, the house is furnished with an original collection, including sculpture by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and Arts and Crafts movement pieces created by the Nichols family.
Responsibilities:
Visitor Services Representatives lead high-quality tours of the Nichols House Museum for diverse audiences. They are also responsible for admission and gift shop sales, as well as opening and closing the museum. The position offers the potential for gaining experience with special events, public programs, and small exhibits.
Qualifications:
Candidates should have excellent communication skills, enjoy interacting with visitors of all ages, and possess a strong interest in public history. Enthusiasm for women’s history, the Arts and Crafts movement, and the Progressive Era are a plus, as are retail point of sale and tour guiding experience (will train as needed). Hours and Compensation:
Through the end of October 2025, the Visitor Services Representative works 4-8 hours per week, typically from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm, at least one day a week. Weekend availability required. During the winter, there is the possibility for 1-2 days a month, as well as additional substitute shifts.
Salary is $16.50 to $17.50/hour
