Conflicts Analyst, The Brattle Group, (Boston, MA)

Job Summary:

The Brattle Group, a privately held, global economics consulting firm, is looking for a Conflicts Analyst to join either our Boston, MA, Chicago, IL, San Francisco, CA or Washington, DC office. The position is primarily responsible for processing conflicts searches using Firm and third-party research databases, so that Brattle may take on new clients and matters. This role includes researching company information from external sources, searching internal Firm databases, and communicating the conflicts results while highlighting critical issues directly to the Firm’s Consultants. This position reports to the Manager of Conflicts, working closely with her and the rest of the Legal team to uphold the quality, consistency, and customer service as defined and implemented by Brattle’s Legal department.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Internet and database research to flesh out information provided in conflict check requests; includes research on corporate structures, federal and state case, and past conflict requests
  • Analyze conducted research to Identify potential conflicts related to the parties and subject of the matter; resolve, escalate, and report potential issues, as applicable
  • Work closely with Conflicts team to determine best practices in process, procedures, and technology improvements to provide optimum client service and efficiency
  • Establish ethical screens as necessary
  • Additional responsibilities include:
    • Initial review of incoming conflict check requests to ensure clarity of the request
    • Initiate process for queuing conflict check requests
    • Timely and accurate input of data into the Firm’s conflicts database, in accordance with established department practices
    • Update the conflicts database as additional information becomes available

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • A minimum of two to three years relevant conflicts, reference library experience or related law firm or professional services experience
  • Strong research capabilities
  • Proficiency in research applications such as CapIQ, Law360, Lex Machina, PACER, and other similar resources
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, solid understanding of MS Excel expected
  • Acute attention to detail and the ability to produce clear, error-free work
  • Must be able to work independently and exercise appropriate judgment as necessary
  • Discretion in handling confidential information
  • Excellent writing/proofing skills
  • Strong client service orientation
  • Ability to interact with all levels of firm personnel
  • Evening work may be expected/required

Hours & Compensation:

Brattle offers a competitive benefits package, base salary, and bonus program for eligible roles based on individual and firm performance. The anticipated base gross salary range for this position in Boston, MA, Chicago, IL and Washington, DC is $80,000 – $100,000 annually.  Actual salary will depend on a variety of factors, including experience and training.
