Job Description
The Morse Institute Library is searching for its next Technical Services Supervisor! The position oversees the overall functioning of the Technical Services department, as well as supervision of Technical Services staff.
Position Duties
- A candidate for this position will have experience with cataloging and metadata, acquisitions, knowledge of current technologies pertinent to library applications including integrated library systems (Sierra), familiarity with vendors including (but not limited to) Ingram and Baker & Taylor, and considerable familiarity with current developments in the field of Library Science.
- The Technical Services Supervisor will work as a member of the library’s leadership team to promote a culture of inclusivity and belonging that embraces the contributions of all library staff.
- The candidate will also be able to prepare and present complex technical and statistical reports as relates to their department.
- The Technical Services Supervisor will have opportunities for professional development, and the chance to work on special projects as desired, or as designated by library administration.
- The library is about to update its World Languages collection, and there’s an opportunity for the right candidate to utilizes their skills to make a difference for the Natick community and beyond.
- The library is also continuing an ongoing diversity audit of its collections, and the Technical Services Supervisor is an integral part of this project.
- The library maintains a Library of Things collection, and there are plentiful opportunities to add to, enhance, and, of course, evaluate this collection in the future.
Qualifications
- The Technical Services Supervisor must have earned a Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science from an accredited institution
- Must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a library setting with increasing levels of supervisory responsibilities
- Must have the ability to work well in a team environment, with excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills
- In exceptional circumstances, specialized education, training, and/or experience may be substituted for part of the educational requirements
Hours & Compensation
- This is a full-time position starting at $39.3697/hr.
- This is a full-time non-exempt position.
