Purpose

The University of Texas System Digital Library (UTSDL) consortium comprises the libraries of the academic and health institutions of the University of Texas System.  Through this consortium, UTSDL complements the collection strengths of our UT institution libraries with electronic scholarly resources, and expands support for their institutions’ services and programs.  UTSDL is a team of 3 librarians that office at UT Austin’s Perry-Castañeda Library, working with staff there to support all University of Texas System academic and medical institutions.  The purpose of the UT System Consortia Coordinating Librarian is to help manage electronic resources through the consortium life cycle including the licensing workflow, to communicate effectively with all stakeholders, and to help administer the restricted UTSDL website and other communication platforms. 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate UTSDL electronic resources through the consortium lifecycle
    Assist with the renewal of electronic resource subscriptions including verifying business changes, distributing title lists, and maintaining accurate licensing data. Document and disseminate business and legal aspects of the licenses, adhering to the UT Board of Regents and State of Texas regulations.
     
  • Develop professional relationships through customer service
    Communicate proactively and work productively to build rapport and trust with UT System library colleagues, as well as publishers and vendors. Meet the informational needs of library staff, administrators, and vendors through various channels such as email, online meetings, and public and internal webpages.
     
  • Administer and develop data for UTSDL website and resource platforms
    Assist in administering the restricted UTSDL SharePoint website and communication platforms. Develop and maintain electronic resource and fiscal data and reports critical for UT System libraries. Continually improve data and functionality needed for site users. Assist with authentication and authorization issues. Conduct assessment and update documentation as needed. Assist in coordinating training sessions for users.
     
  • Engage in Professional Development and UT Libraries Support
    Participate in UT Libraries, UT Austin, and UT System activities to further their broader missions. Engage in professional library and scholarly organizations, particularly those related to electronic and consortia librarianship, such as the International Coalition of Library Consortia (ICOLC).  Keep current with developments in librarianship, particularly related to Open Access content, collection development, licensing, and acquisitions.
     
  • Other related functions as assigned. 

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s in Library Science or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a library or information-resource environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy in performing tasks.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing priorities, meeting deadlines, and organizing work effectively.
  • Excellent communication (written and spoken) and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to work effectively with colleagues and others in a rapidly changing environment. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member, in-person and virtually. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service. 

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with electronic resource renewals and licensing in a higher education environment.
  • Professional experience managing tasks (or coordinating workflows) within a team.
  • Professional working proficiency interacting with publishers and vendors.
  • Experience working in a consortia or shared-resource environment.
  • Familiarity developing reports and documentation.
  • Demonstrated initiative, flexibility, and ability to manage workflows and problem solve creatively.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint.    
  • Knowledge of Open Access issues.

Salary Range

$52,000 + depending on qualifications
