The Belmont Public Library is seeking a Coordinator of Technology and Technical Services to join our team. The Coordinator plans, reviews and supervises these two major functional areas of the Library. The work is performed under the direction of the Library Director and Assistant Library Director, and assists the Library Administration in overseeing day-to-day operations. At the end of 2025, the Town of Belmont expects to open its new Library. One of the first responsibilities of the new Coordinator will be to work with Library Administration to hire 2 full time Technology Librarians to work under their direction. Not only the chance to join a great staff, with a brand new building around the corner, but also to hire some new team members.

Duties

Responsibilities include acquisition, cataloging, processing and withdrawal of library materials, development and administration of specific budget lines as well as supervising the technology and technical services staff who are responsible for management of technology infrastructure and technical services processes. The Coordinator of Technology and Technical Services plans, organizes, assigns and manages the work activities of department staff to achieve department goals. In the absence of Library Administration, the Coordinator of Technology and Technical Services may serve as Acting Library Director on a rotating basis or as circumstances dictate with the Coordinators Children’s / Reference. This position serves as the technical liaison to the Minuteman Library Network for needs related to technology.
Additionally, the Coordinator of Technology and Technical Services is responsible for the oversight of server support and routine system maintenances. This position will work with Town and School IT personnel to identify opportunities for collaboration. The Coordinator of Technology and Technical Services maintains current knowledge of reference materials, research methods, online database and Internet use and will work on the Reference Desk as part of the professional librarian rotation.

Qualifications

Qualifications include a Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited school with three to five years of library, technology, and technical services experience. Two years supervisory experience preferred. Knowledge of library work principles and practices, use of library resources and information technology, and automated library systems.

Hours and Compensation

This is a full time 35 hour per week position covered under a collective bargaining agreement with the
Belmont Librarian’s Association. The starting hourly rate is $40.10 for FY 2025 and qualifies for the Town’s
comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental and life insurance, paid vacation, sick, personal and holiday leave. This position also qualifies for the Town’s pension plan.
