Programming Librarian, Leverett Library (Leverett, MA)

Job Summary:

The Leverett Library is an integral part of our small, rural community of 1800 people. We are looking
for a creative and friendly Programming Librarian to join our collaborative staff. The Programming
Librarian plans, advertises, implements and evaluates programs for adults, teens, and children. This
includes running our summer reading program. Since we are a small staff, they will also support
patrons with reference and technology questions, and may perform circulation duties.

Candidates should enjoy connecting with community members, have strong computer skills with
understanding of social media platforms and basic troubleshooting, and have an understanding of
marketing and community outreach with the ability to create visually attractive fliers, signs, and
displays.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of library experience
  • Strong computer skills
  • Experience supporting people of all ages with technology and information.
  • Ability to prioritize and work with interruptions and distractions
  • Well-organized and able to manage time and establish priorities
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision or alone
  • High degree of motivation, initiative, flexibility, and resourcefulness
  • Position is subject to pre-employment physical and CORI check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • All of the above and an MLIS or progress in an ALA accredited MLIS program plus two years of library programming experience.
  • Comfort and experience with CW Mars, the Evergreen ILS, and Canva

Hours & Compensation:

  • $20.00 per hour
  • The position is scheduled for 16.5 hours per week including some daytime, evening and weekend hours.
  • The position accrues prorated Sick and Personal Time after 6 months of employment.
