Description
Reporting to the Head of Library Instruction and Research Services, the Outreach Librarian is responsible for: liaising with student organizations, student life, and community partners; outreach, advocacy, and programming. This position collaborates with library employees to develop handouts and digital materials about library services. Participating fully as part of the Research & Instruction Department, the librarian provides hour-long general and specialized consultations for students, faculty, and staff in the Research Center, teaches information literacy workshops in assigned disciplines, and participates in instructional programming for first-year foundational courses.
Liaison areas of responsibility may include the Library and Information Science and Research Methods Departments as well as non-traditional and distance learning programs, such as the University of Denver University College/College of Professional Studies. The librarian actively engages in scholarly activities through research and publication and participates in professional organizations, as well as library and campus committees. Appointments will be made at the rank of Assistant Professor, non-tenure track. This is a full-time, 12-month faculty library position, non-tenure track.
Duties
- Participate as a member of the Research & Instruction Department, collaborating in the operations of the Research Center, teaching library instruction for first year writing classes, and attending regular meetings.
- Design, lead, and assess student-centered information literacy workshops for liaison areas including occasional evening and weekend classes.
- Conduct outreach to students, faculty, staff, and community members to ensure that library users are aware of collections, services, and technologies available to them.
- Provide research consultations with students, faculty and staff at the Research Center.
- Serve as a liaison in subject areas as assigned.
- Build collections to meet the research and curricular needs of undergraduate and graduate students and faculty in assigned areas.
- Serve on library and campus committees.
- Work in accordance with the promotion guidelines and engage in scholarly activities through research and publication, as a library faculty member.
- Participate and engage in service commitments with local, regional, and national professional organizations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- ALA-accredited masters degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent advanced academic qualification in information services.
- A successful candidate will demonstrate a knowledge, ability, or potential to engage effectively with culturally diverse communities.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $60,000 – $63,000.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
