Exhibition Gallery Attendant, Congregational Library & Archives (Boston, MA)

The Congregational Library & Archives seeks reliable and friendly Exhibition Gallery Attendants to engage, educate, and inform guests at the library’s exhibition, Sacred Rebellion: Congregationalists in Revolutionary Massachusetts. The exhibition will be open from 11 am to 4 pm on Fridays and Saturdays from April 5 – June 21, 2025.
Job Responsibilities
- Greeting and welcoming diverse visitors from around the world.
- Orienting visitors to 14 Beacon Street, the Congregational Library & Archive’s historic location on Beacon Hill, Boston.
- Interpreting the exhibition and answering visitors’ questions.
- Enforcing proper distance from the objects and no touching policy.
- Monitoring and light cleaning of the gallery to ensure the safety of our visitors, facilities, and collections.
- Discussing and engaging exhibition content with visitors in a friendly, accessible manner.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Must have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Must be comfortable utilizing technology (iPads, Eventbrite/ticketing, Google Suite).
- Prefer some visitor experience, customer service, or hospitality training (museum experience preferred but not required).
- We are looking for a team-player who can contribute to a flexible team. We like to have fun, so a good sense of humor helps!
Pay and Hours
This is a temporary position, Fridays and Saturdays only from April 5 through June 21, 2025. The pay rate is $18/hr.
Exhibition Gallery Attendants are expected to work for 14 hours per week during that time. Exhibition hours are 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Library Assistant should plan on being at the library from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm with a break for lunch.
Other Information
Exhibition Gallery Attendants often stand or sit for long periods and occasionally lift boxes/heavy objects (approx. 20 pounds) throughout a single shift.
