This 9-month tenure-track faculty appointment will direct, manage, and support the library’s evolving web and integrated systems infrastructure across multiple platforms. Lead the development and maintenance of the library website with a focus on user-centered design. Ensure the functioning of the integrated library system (ILS), discovery interface, authentication services, and other auxiliary systems. Assist in reference services, information literacy instruction, and collection development in assigned subjects. Participate in collegial governance, as well as campus and professional activities.
- Evaluate and implement user-centered web design in compliance with accessibility standards while maintaining the reliable organization and navigation of the library’s website.
- Administer, support, and provide analytics for the ILS and discovery interface (Ex Libris Alma/Primo VE), including collaborating with other librarians and UW System staff.
- Oversee the interoperability of the ILS and discovery interface, authentication services (EZProxy, Shibboleth), and other auxiliary systems, including where they interact with the library website to identify opportunities for custom code and API implementation.
- Serve as Campus Contact for UW Libraries Shared Library Systems consortium.
- Act as the library’s liaison to University Marketing & Communications unit to facilitate the library’s presence within the campus centralized website CMS.
- Lead the library web team to serve as a venue for input from internal and external stakeholders.
- Seek opportunities to enhance library workflows as they relate to web-based tools and technology.
- Generate reports and provide analytics upon request from within Alma/Primo.
- Provide internal training and support on the configuration of library systems and services through troubleshooting, data analytics, and system enhancements.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, and documentation about library system workflows and processes.
Other Responsibilities: - Participate in reference services, including occasional weekend desk shifts.
- Participate in collection development areas of interest or expertise.
- Participate in information literacy instruction activities.
- Serve on Murphy Library, university, UW System, and professional committees as
elected or appointed. - Engage in an active program of scholarship, professional and community service as
outlined in the University’s Faculty Handbook and the Library’s Departmental Bylaws & Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program or equivalent international degree at time of application.
- Professional experience working with web design and/or an integrated library system.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional experience post MLS working with web design and/or library systems.
- Familiarity with working in a peer-governed academic department including conducting research and participating in professional service.
- Demonstrated experience with the ILS Alma/Primo in a consortia environment.
- Demonstrated experience with web development and/or design.
- Demonstrated experience integrating library systems and auxiliary systems.
- Familiarity with Springshare products.
- Familiarity with programming languages.
- Knowledge of data analytics and the ability to generate reports from library systems.
- Experience with vendor communication and project management.
- Familiarity with web accessibility compliance standards.
- Experience conducting web user research to understand user behavior to inform web design.
- Professional experience working in an academic library environment.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively collaborate with project stakeholders, faculty/staff, colleagues, and students.
