Library Assistant II, Gleason Public Library, Carlisle, MA

Description

The purpose of this position is to provide customer service and circulation services to all customers of the Gleason Public Library, and to cover the children’s room desk and assist with children’s services. General duties include checking materials in and out; answering the telephone; maintaining neatness and organization throughout the library; assisting customers of all ages in the basic use and selection of library materials and services; and covering the youth reference desk. Performs all other related work as required. 

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required plus a minimum of one year of customer service experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Successful candidates will have excellent communication and customer service skills. Previous library experience, including experience with Symphony or other library software, and a strong interest in reading are preferred.

Compensation

$24.06/hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.

Hours

Mondays 5-9pm, Wednesdays 5-9pm, Thursdays 10am-6pm, and every other Saturday (10am-5pm Sept-Jun, 10am-1pm Jul-Aug).
