About the Open Access Directory (OAD)
The Open Access Directory (OAD) is a crowdsourced collection of factual lists about open access (OA) to science and scholarship. Maintained by the global OA community, OAD serves as a central hub for discovering, referencing, and updating OA-related information. Hosted by the School of Library and Information Science at Simmons University, OAD relies on community contributions to keep its content accurate, comprehensive, and up-to-date.
Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate volunteer to join our team as a Co-Editor. This is a remote position that offers the opportunity to contribute to the OA movement, organize and advance your knowledge in the field, and be recognized on our website.
Responsibilities
Monitor and maintain the accuracy and comprehensiveness of OAD entries. Teach and guide new contributors in editing and updating lists. Oversee OAD’s social media and email accounts to engage with the community and address inquiries. Handle day-to-day operational tasks to ensure smooth functioning. Update lists and ensure all information is current and relevant. Participate in video meetings (2-3 times per year) and email discussions (more frequent) to discuss strategy and improvements.
Qualifications
Fluency in English (native or non-native speakers welcome). Strong organizational and communication skills. Experience with wiki editing is a plus. Passion for OA and a commitment to advancing OA initiatives. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.

Additional Information
This is a volunteer position with flexible hours. (All the OAD editors work as volunteers.) All work will be conducted remotely, allowing for global participation.
