Description
The Adult Services Librarian is responsible for all aspects of programming for the adult and seniors in our community, along with all advertising and marketing of the programs. They will also maintain the library website and all its social media accounts. They are the primary source of tech support and reference assistance for patrons and staff.
The Adult Services Librarian will complete duties within the categories of Programming & Outreach, Marketing, Library Operations, and Reference & Archives. Must be able to complete additional duties as assigned by the Director.
Programming & Outreach:
- Plan, develop, conduct and evaluate a variety of innovative and engaging programs and services for adults, including a focus on senior interests
- Ensure that programs address diverse interests and respond to the needs of the community
- Collaborate with other library departments and community organizations to enhance service and program offerings
- Foster partnerships with local organizations, businesses, and other community groups to expand library services and support adult programs
- Manage and train volunteers and community service workers
Marketing:
- Create flyers and registration sheets for all adult programs
- Write all promotional materials for programs and submit to a variety of outlets by their deadlines
- Maintain the library website and social media accounts, keeping information current and relevant
Reference & Archives:
- Teach patrons to use personal mobile devices and related technology
- Lead small group instruction on a variety of technology topics
- Assist patrons and staff with any technical questions or issues that may arise
- Serve as point person for all out of state ILL requests
- Provide general reference assistance to patrons and staff
- Research historical information using all resources available, including our Archive collection, as requested
- Assist with adult nonfiction collection development and cataloging
Recommended Minimum Qualifications
- MLS / MLIS from and ALA accredited program
- Experience in a public library setting preferred
- Experience in program development, marketing and community outreach
This is a part-time 30 hour per week position that includes evening hours, no weekends.
Hourly wage is $19.00
Benefits include earned vacation and sick time. No medical, dental or vision benefits are available.
