Youth Services Interns (2 positions), West Warwick Public Library, West Warwick, RI

The West Warwick Public Library is in search of an intern to work in the Youth Services Department as a part of the LEARN 365 Grant program in collaboration with the West Warwick School Department. This person should enjoy working with Youth and Families, be flexible and forward-thinking, and be a self starter.

Hours: 10/hr per week. Internship dates take place between February and May 2025.

Total Stipend: $2,600

Description of duties:

  • Run weekly programming to enhance the Math and/or reading skills of West Warwick public school students.
  • Collaborate with the Youth department staff to create and advertise Math and Reading programs as directed by the Youth Services librarians.
  • Assists youth and families with Technology.
  • Program set up and break down.
  • Assessment and planning of programs.
  • Other duties as assigned on the grant project and related endeavors.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Enjoys being creative and exploring new ideas
  • Provide excellent customer service
  • Excellent knowledge of computers and technology
  • Experience working with children and teens
  • Teaching knowledge a plus
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to be flexible are a must.
  • School or Library experience a plus

Education Level: High School Diploma or Equivalent and some College required. Additional education or experience is a plus.
