Description
The researcher/archivist we are searching for would go through Karsh’s extensive archive (which is located in Boston) with the director and help him to find the underlying common thread through his work in a historical context. We have exclusive access to never-before-seen archives including the outtakes from Karsh’s studio sessions, and original audio and video recordings.
Requirements (not mandatory but a plus):
- knowledge of art history
- knowledge of photography art and history
- knowledge of film / narrative / storytelling an asset
- ability to scan, digitize, and document photography negatives
- ability to digitize and document audio and video archives
This will be a paid position. Starting now, duration and details to be discussed.
Yung Chang (bio): Yung Chang is the multi-award-winning director of feature documentaries Up the Yangtze (2007), China Heavyweight (2012), The Fruit Hunters (2013), This is Not a Movie (2019) and Emmy-nominated and Oscar®-qualified, Wuhan Wuhan (2021). Chang is an alumnus of the 2018 TIFF Writers Studio and the 2015 Sundance Institute Screenwriting and Directing Labs for his feature script, Eggplant. His films have played top-tier international film festivals and have been broadcast around the world. A graduate of the Meisner acting technique from the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in NYC and Concordia University’s Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema in Montreal, Chang’s films are recognized for being humanistic stories exploring emotionally complex characters through a cinematic lens. EyeSteelFilm: EYESTEELFILM is Canada’s most critically acclaimed nonfiction studio.
