Schedule:
40 hrs per week, Mon-Fri, 8:30am – 5:00pm with a 30 minute unpaid meal break
Duties:
- Performs pre-order research and verification of bibliographic data for the purchase of library materials in electronic sources such as local catalog. Confirms availability of materials.
- Places online orders for library materials and enters orders in the library’s online catalog and UConn Health’s acquisition system.
- Identifies finds for payment and notifies supervisor of low funds. Monitors open orders. Communicates with internal (faculty and staff) and external (vendors) to clarify status of requests, orders and payments.
- Receives materials, updates online file and enters invoices in online system.
- Manages payment of materials from creating purchase orders to paying invoices.
- Keeps detailed spreadsheets for expenditures from funds/accounts and creates budget projections.
- Resolve problems and answers questions from requesters, vendors, and other library staff.
- Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill and Ability:
- Knowledge of library science techniques and practices
- Knowledge off advanced library systems, techniques, resources and equipment, including computer and other automated systems
- Oral and written communications skills
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to follow instructions
- Interpersonal skills
General Experience:
- Three (3) years of experience involving a variety of library functions
- Substitutions Allowed:
- College training in Library Science may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of two (2) years for an Associates Degree.

- Ability to analyze and solve problems relating to library methods
- Ability to understand and operate across more than one area of library activities
- Ability to present and exchange technical or complex information
- Ability to work independently under general supervision
- Excellent problem solving and communication skills
- Thorough knowledge of financial record keeping rules and procedures, creating budget projections and current budget systems
- Ability to use standard office hardware(i.e. computer , multifunction printer) and software (Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook)
- Demonstrable skills including the creation and use of spreadsheets and the ability to compute percentages and create formulas
- Basic Accounts Payable/Account Receivable knowledge and experience with data entry and computerized purchasing system
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize work and use good time management
