Summer School Overview:
Summer@Carroll is a five-week summer school program for students entering grades 1-9 who have been
diagnosed with a language-based learning difference, such as dyslexia. Students participate in academic classes and recreational programming each day. Carroll School is an equal opportunity employer that offers competitive salaries.
Position Summary:
The Tutor Supervisor, one of two for the Lincoln Campus, reports to the Summer@Carroll Director and acts as daily point person for language tutors working with rising fifth-seventh graders in Lincoln. Tutor Supervisor is available \ to assist tutors in Orton Gillingham planning as well as consult on creative strategies for struggling students. Tutor Supervisors (Waltham and Lincoln) work collaboratively with one another to coordinate summer curriculum training, Seesaw postings, and report writing.
Responsibilities:
● Maintains an updated and organized bank of curriculum resources based on Carroll School instructional practices to provide to teachers
● Prior to the start of the program, responsible for reading all student files and recommending tutoring assignments
● Attend planning meetings as needed during winter and spring
● May assist with staff recruitment and occasional applicant interviews
● Participates in Family Orientation in June
● Attends & contributes to the one-day Admin Team Orientation in June prior to the two-day Staff Orientation
● Co-plans with other tutor supervisors, and facilitates team meeting sessions for tutors during Staff Orientation prior to the program
● Oversees the tutoring program in grades 5-9, providing direct supervision to tutors on Lincoln campus
● Monitor daily attendance and coverage for absent staff, substitute teachers as needed in case of teacher/tutor absences
● Circulating the classrooms and providing in-the-moment support as needed
● Participates/contributes to Student Concerns meetings twice a week to discuss students of concern and create action plans
● Assists the S@C Admin Team with response to daily student concerns as they arise
● Responds to parent communication on matters related to S@C OG Tutoring
● Support, review, and edit staff’s weekly Seesaw Posts
● Lead workshops/meetings for staff to support them with report writing and parent conferences
● Read, edit, and verify Aspen uploads of final reports
● Provide administrator support in all conferences
● Collects and provides feedback on staff experiences with the tutoring program
● Participates in the S@C De-Brief Meeting during end of program
● May present in Speaker Series talks related to tutoring approaches at Carroll
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
● Associate Level (or higher) Orton-Gillingham training course with practicum
● Previous elementary or middle school classroom experience
● Knowledge of multi-sensory approaches to education
● Readiness to collaborate effectively with S@C Admin Team & other S@C staff
● Strong written and verbal communication skills
● Strong organizational, interpersonal, and supervisory skills
● Prior Summer@Carroll or Carroll School experience is advantageous
