The University of New Mexico (UNM) Health Sciences Library and Informatics Center (HSLIC) seeks a dynamic and service-oriented individual to expand reference and educational services to UNM’s Health Sciences Center College of Nursing and allied health professions programs in a fast-paced, continually evolving environment.  The faculty librarian embeds information skills into competency-based health sciences curricula, collaborates with instructors both internal and external to the library, and provides research, reference and curricular support for the UNM health sciences community.

Appointment is posted as open rank, to be determined based on qualifications. Salary range: $61,380-$75,210.

Responsibilities:
– Engages and participates in a shared services model to collaboratively design and deliver audience-specific curricula, library trainings and workshops, both in-person and online, in order to enhance evidence-based practice and research across the HSC. 
– Serves as the liaison to assigned departments as the primary contact and communication link for library and information related activities.
– Proactively seeks opportunities to engage with assigned programs to plan curricula, integrate library skills and support the evolving needs of education across the HSC.
– Contributes to reference services, literature searching, and HSLIC’s support of expert-level reviews, including systematic reviews, by providing consultations.
– Participates in activities that enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion across education, library programs, and the profession.
– Investigates and applies, as appropriate, emerging evidence-based educational innovations to engage learners.
– Develops assessment of instruction practices to improve student learning.
– Develops research guides to support HSC programs and initiatives.
– Provides consultations on using and retrieving literature and effectively managing citations with citation management tools.
– Pursues an individual research agenda, including research, publication, and professional and university service activities in keeping with library faculty status and tenure and promotion requirements.

Required/Minimum:

  • Graduate Degree in Library or Information Science from a program accredited by the American Library Association (or foreign equivalent) program.
  • 1 year of experience in providing instruction in a health sciences or academic library or similar experience teaching or training adult learners.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S.

Preferred:

  • Experience teaching and developing face-to-face and online instructional sessions for adult learners.
  • Experience providing reference and literature search services or systematic review services to members of the health sciences community and/or other library users.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including creating and delivering presentations.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and student success, as well as working with broadly diverse communities.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish productive collaborations with internal and external stakeholders, such as faculty, researchers, students, and fellow librarians.
